SFX is an abbreviation for “sound effects”. SFXs are onomatopoeia in manga or comics, and they help add excitement, intensity, and information to the character or story.
We use several programs from Adobe Creative Suite but work mainly on Adobe Photoshop. For texts, we work with Google Suite applications. We also use several conversion and optimization tools to transition from one process to another over the course of the manga translation and typesetting.
Manga typesetting refers to the process of gathering and cleaning of the original version of the manga (including removal of SFX as necessary), and inputting and designing the target language’s text onto the page.
