Bande dessinĂ©e (abbreviated âBDâ) literally means âdrawn strips.â It is comics made in Francophone countries especially in France and Belgium.Â
What do cleaning and redrawing mean?
Cleaning and redrawing mean erasing the original/source language in the comics or manga page and restoring the image or the background as necessary. This process is done before inputting the translation or target languageâs text.
What does SFX mean?
SFX is an abbreviation for âsound effectsâ. SFXs are onomatopoeia in manga or comics, and they help add excitement, intensity, and information to the character or story.
What is manga coloring?
Printed manga is, more often than not, formatted black and white. However, due to digital platforms requiring colorized manga or comics on their website, the coloring of manga has also become a trend. It goes without saying that simply colorizing black-and-white comics can dramatically change the impact on readers.Â
What is manga verticalization?
Manga verticalization was devised to optimize the reading of manga on smartphones. It is the format used in Webtoon. With vertical scrolling, readers are able to have a seamless reading experience. What software do you use for your manga services?
We use several programs from Adobe Creative Suite but work mainly on Adobe Photoshop. For texts, we work with Google Suite applications. We also use several conversion and optimization tools to transition from one process to another over the course of the manga translation and typesetting.
What is manga typesetting?
Manga typesetting refers to the process of gathering and cleaning of the original version of the manga (including removal of SFX as necessary), and inputting and designing the target languageâs text onto the page.
